Double Cross Inspirations by Cactussilver
What is biker jewelry (commonly also) referred to gothic silver jewelry and Rock and Roll jewelry)? Although we do know what it is, some things can hardly fall to be described adequately in words. In most cases, gothic silver jewelry takes the form of thick, chunky jewelry handcrafted from 925 sterling silver. It employs unconventional, bold, edgy and often anarchic, defiant motifs. The paradigm image it commonly inspires often consists of a handsome, rugged, masculine and individualistic man riding a high CC bike over winding country roads into the sunset with an unknown agenda. Or that of a hugely popular heavy metal star performing live on stage, commanding the adoration of millions of punk followers in the mosh pit. It is one which sparks the imagination and sparks wonder and awe. Today, this look is hugely popular, due mainly to active adoption by bikers, musicians, biker enthusiasts, and many other cultural figureheads eager to showcase and promote individualism through clothing and fashion. In this article, we introduce Travis Walker: a student of Gabor, and one of the most inspired gothic jewelry designers the world has had since Gaboratory pioneered the gothic image.
Who is Travis Walker
Travis Walker, a first-generation gothic silver design guru, has been forging quality gothic silver jewelry and biker leather designs for eighteen years. Like so many other pioneers of sterling silver biker jewelry such as Bill Wall and Gabor Nagy, Travis Walker was born and raised in Malibu, California. Today, he, he continues to reside in sunny California with Brittany, his wife. Walker began his design career by making customized motorcycle seats for some of the top chopper building industrial giants, including Harley Davidson. Although Walker continues to create custom pieces for special clients and celebrities, he does so only on a private scale for close friends and treasured clients. Seeing a potential market for fashionable biking accessories and apparel, Travis Walker entered the realm of sterling silver gothic jewelry, which he pioneered under the pupillage of the late design guru Gabor Nagy.
Being one of Gabor Nagy's top students, Walker eventually became to the position of the vice President of Gaboratory. However, the desire to make something of his own eventually led him to leave the illustrious halls of Gaboratory and begin walking an arduous journey towards forging something of his own, by himself.
The Birth of Double Cross Jewelry
The first trappings of success were seen in early 1996, when Walker launched his first line of biker jewelry, heralding the beginning of Double Cross Jewelry. Double Cross has come a long way since then; its popularity has surged exponentially both locally and overseas, and Walker has succeeded in attracting and maintaining an enviable underground and exclusive clientele. Double Cross has made designed unique custom jewelry for rock stars, A-list celebrity actors and actresses, special clients and top bike builders.Travis' original designs are varied in theme, ranging between edgy and gothic to high-end and classical. Putting on Double Cross designs not only makes you stand out in a crowd; it also speaks volumes about a philosophy defined by surf, motorcycles, social status and rock n roll. Till today, Today, Double Cross remains very exclusive, and positions itself admirably as a premium outfit. Its gorgeous gothic jewelry pieces, unfortunately, are priced at levels beyond what average wage-earning fans can reasonably afford to pay, and unless you wish to go broke, you would want to consider other alternatives.
